At The Moment

It's Thursday and spring break. Mom's not working and the kiddo plus a friend are bored. What's something fun to do? The kids said "swimming!!!!".

Swimming it is. So, currently...

...we're at the pool, in a 70 degrees overcast weather. I am not in the water but I can feel the chilly breeze while the kids doesn't care about how freezing the water feels.

...listening to my Spotify "luv luv luv" playlist with "Saving All My Love For You" by Whitney Houston is currently playing. No, not sentimental at the moment. Just like having this playlist on cos I have it available offline. Saving data is the plan!

Also, can't help but hear the kids' laughter along with splashing water.

...eating Big Mac that my awesome husband brought me. I left home to take kids swimming as soon as I got out of bed. So I had to ask him to pick me something to eat on his way home from the store. It's not my favorite, but when you're hungry, guess anything edible works.

...thinking about my long term goals and also the short term ones. But just recently, I've been focusing more on the long term. Thus, I made the huge decision in becoming unemployed and owning a business with WFG.

I know it won't be an easy way but just like any other job, nothing is easy at first. It takes time, a lot of trial and errors, and the right people with the same vision. I may not know what's along the way, but I know for sure what my goal is.

I hope everyone is having a great day so far! Happy Thursday y'all!

5 Jobs On The Side Anyone Can Do

I've been employed with three companies and have officially held four different positions, but I have done way more than that. I could say that one of my strength is flexibility and weakness is stagnation. I couldn't do the same thing over and over. If I've learned to do one, I always try to do something else.

In my 16 years of employment (not with the same company), I've done and learned so much. About 2 years out of that, I stayed at home to take care of my then toddler. And as much as I wanted to be a full-time mother, we couldn't financially afford it, so I worked from home until I was able to drive and get a full-time job. For the past 6 years, I was employed with the same company. Then, I left just last month to go full time with something that I've been doing part-time for a few months now.

If you're currently working full time right now, I assure you that you can easily do these jobs on the side. So, here are the five jobs that I did (still doing some) that anyone can do on the side. No special talents required.

Money Saving Tips

When we decide to change, we must change for the better or it will defeat the purpose of change.

I used to hate money! I hate it so much that I never hold on to them long enough to spend it for something more important. I hate it so much that I never try to save them. But I realized that we should love our hard-earned money because we spend time for it. Time that we will never be able to get back. We sacrificed a lot for it. We invested too much emotions for it. Have you ever think of that?

I didn't, until just recently, when someone invited me over to watch a presentation which opened my mind and made me realize that I'm not doing a good job taking care of something that I worked hard for. We work hard to earn money for our family and to live our dreams someday, don't we?

Blog changes = Life changes

I am so excited for these new updates in my blog.

As you've seen in one of my previous posts, I've been blogging for eight years. Imagine all the changes I've done?! Countless - some drastic and some are not.

So, now, I've done another huge update.

First, my domain name was changed from www.J-Thinks.com to my real name www.JONAVER.com.

I've been in a long break before I started blogging again and took some income assignments, here and there. But I realized I'm not, and will never be as active, as what I used to. Plus I forgot most of the blogging tricks I used to practice. So, I turn into finding someone who could guide me in maximizing my blog's purpose. Her first advise was to create a brand - something unique and will stand out. So, yes, I think my real name is nothing but a perfect brand for me.

Life is not a movie

The Top 10 Reasons People Hate Their Job

As per LinkedIn columnist, Ilya Pozin, founder of Pluto TV, here are the top 10 reasons employee’s full-time job may be hating their job:

10. They think the grass is greener someplace else. If your employee’s friends are having an amazing experience at another company, why wouldn’t they be envious? The transparency of employee benefits and perks at other companies can sometimes lead your employees to dream about working elsewhere. Give your employees something worth bragging about. They’ll be more motivated, eager to spread the good word, and you’ll benefit from an improved company culture.
9. Their values don’t align with the company. Dissatisfaction is bound to take place if your employees aren’t sold on the same things you are. If your company values creativity and collaboration, it’s in your best interest to make screening for these values a mandatory part of your hiring process. Regular feedback and reviews can help you stay in tune with employees’ values and how they align with what the company needs and values most.

Blogging For Eight Years

I am in the process of updating my blog again because now that I am a work-at-home Mom again (for the most part), I have more time to write a post regularly. When I say I am updating, it doesn't only mean putting up a new post, but I am overhauling my entire blog - changing the design, logo, name (maybe), and cleaning up some old posts.

Browsing through my old posts will probably take me the longest because, I just realized, I've had close to 600 posts with 8 years of blogging (not counting the drafts that I haven't published yet). There was a hiatus but I still revisit and check with my visitors from here and there.

I can't believe it's been eight years since I decided to brave through the world wide web with my opinions, open my life, share my ideas, and actually earned from it at some point.

YOLO: You Only Love Oreos

Good morning, Austin!

It's wet and gloomy, I know. To be honest, I don't remember the last time I enjoyed this kind of weather since I had to wake up early in the morning to go to work like most people do. And all the time I was at work, all I could think of is, "I wish I am home right now under the covers. This is the perfect weather for it."

Well, I am no longer employed. So, I am home, but not under the covers. I still got up as early as 5am, by choice, because I am excited to start my day and think of ways I could improve myself with my new endeavor. But just not having to drive on the wet road makes a whole lot of difference. Plus the thought knowing that I am living my life with a purpose.

I love this present weather, I kid you not. Actually, I am enjoying the 'present' better, now that I know that I am closer to a better 'future'.

How to survive a crazy wife (Bedtime)

Just one of those random questions I ask my husband, "Do you love me?" (Ha! Random?!NO!). Of course, he'd have to say yes.

He is smart like that.

Then, I asked him, "How do you love a crazy wife?" (now, this is random!). This is actually the first time I asked him this question. So, I told him, "you should write a book with that title!". As a normal husband as he is, he said, "No, I'm gonna write about 'How to survive a crazy wife'". Then he started listing things.

B|W Black and White is Beauty Worthy

"B|W is not just Black & White photos but it must be Beauty Worthy.."

Naks! Guess I am serious about branding my own black & white photos.

I don't have a studio. All I have is my well-lit vanity desk where I take my selfies at. I might not be able to put up too many portraits but I am hoping someday I could. For now, I am more than happy enhancing people's selfie. And no, I don't charge anything. This is just something that I enjoy doing and I love hearing people's reaction when they appreciate what I did.

If you want some good ole black and white photos, send me your portrait and I'd be more than glad to enhance it.

Random Thoughts: The Answered Prayer

remember that night like it was just yesterday. I was down on my knees, crying to God, heartbroken and lost. The night when he left me of uncertainties if he's gone forever or he would keep his promise of non-existent love. I know it was over between us but I just shrug the thought of it, hoping that the reality was wrong. But it wasn't! I used to think that I am strong and when this happens, I would be just fine - but I was wrong. Very wrong.

I was in so much pain and I felt him hurting inside me. I had to be strong.

I told God, "I am deeply sorry for I have wronged you, I did something against Your will, and I know I am being punished. But please, spare my child. I may not be righteous to ask you for anything, but you are my loving Father, and I love my unborn child as much you love me. He hasn't done anything to deserve suffering. Let him have a good life even it means I will have to suffer all my life. You have never betrayed me God despite of the countless times I betrayed You. Please do not betray my child as he will grow up knowing You and believing in You. I do not expect anything for myself as I have sinned a lot. But please give my child everything he needs."

That was my prayer and He listened.

As I look at my son, I know I did something good at some point to deserve him and God still being on my side.

The Unspoken Goodbye

Today, we said our last, most painful, goodbye to my brother, Jack Obon.

The last time I saw him was around 6 years ago. After then he would message me every so often. And when he does, I was more annoyed than grateful because he would only do so when he needs something. Except for the last one. He said, "dako naman diay si Dion, Gang" (Dion is bigger now, Gang). 'GaGang' is my nickname. And I still chose to ignore it, unbeknownst that it was his last message sent to me.

Time, we can't take it back. What has been done was done. We can only think back and wished we've done things differently but it meant nothing for the past. We can learn from it and use it for the future but there are things that just can't be undone.

I'm almost certain that my brother would have done a lot of things differently if he got the chance, but he didn't. Never will.

One thing that brother has been known for is running away. He avoids facing the problem or confronting anyone without physically hurting them. If he can't hit you when he is mad, he leaves. He never says goodbye! He always comes back though. Whether it be in a couple hours, few days, months, in a year or so, we would always see him again until last Saturday, December 5th 2015 -- he left yet again without saying goodbye and we know for sure he ain't coming back.

Once again and for the last time, my brother left us with his unspoken goodbye. So long, Kuya!

Inspiration = Motivation

Inspiration

{the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative}

My family inspires me.

My dream for US is what drives me to become successful. And when they believe in the things I could do, I become stronger and I strive harder.

Motivation

{the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way}

Weird as it may seem, but I am motivated by people who doesn't believe in what I can do. I get satisfaction by proving them wrong. When they think I can't, I show them that I can.

Are you still happy?

In a relationship, it is okay to be sad, it's normal to cry, and it's fine to be hurt...but they should never outnumber the joyful moments.

Remember the reason why we decided to be with someone - it's not shed to tears, but to fill our hearts with happiness. So, if you feel more sadness than happiness, you have to let it go.

#ThursdayThoughts : What Would Happen?

Most knew me as a happy-go-lucky person and I still am but not as what I used to be. I used to just let things be -- not worrying of anything that might happen and just doing anything that makes me happy. Some call it selfish, I call it self-love because I strongly believe that "No One Is Going To Love You If You Don't Love Yourself".

But that recently changed with this question that crossed my mind: WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO ME?

Most (if not all) of us have loved ones who depend on us. I love myself but I also love my family and I know they love me as much. And as much as I hate to think about it, I know it will happen, that I would pass and would no longer be around them. So, what's gonna happen then? Am I ready? Are they ready? NOBODY will ever be ready for that, EMOTIONALLY. And there is not any easier way to overcome that.

Losing a breadwinner does not only hurt emotionally but FINANCIALLY too.

Our family does not live a fancy life. Both me and my husband work hard to make ends meet. We try to save money for the future but we know that it won't be enough to make a bright one. We have too many bills to pay -- Home Mortgage, Car Loans, Home/Car/Health Insurance, Utilities, etc. As breadwinners for our family, our responsibilities are endless! And they would fall into whoever would be left behind.

Imagine the situation when that happens? PAINFUL, I know. It's too painful that I imagine myself getting out of the grave just so I could continue working after I die.

Luckily, I found a way to ease the financial pain when the time comes and I won't have to join the "Living Dead".

How about you, HAVE YOU ASKED YOURSELF THAT QUESTION? If yes, I would love to help! Comment here or leave me a personal message.

Is It Too Late?

Growing up, I've always wanted to play a musical instrument. At least one. I played ukelele (spelling?) and was wanting to step it up by playing banjo but I never really got too far with it. I asked my brother to teach me with their guitar, but that didn't happen.

So now that I am older, I still have that hope, especially when I found out that my husband played before. So I will try learning the piano keyboard. Hopefully he can teach me at least the basics. It shouldn't be too hard, I think. Hope it isn't too late for me yet, is it?

I need falsies

Unfortunately, I am not one of those lucky girls gifted with long lashes. But thanks to Karl Nessler (yes, I googled it) who thought about inventing false lashes. It's just a matter of learning how to put them on.

So, I decided to try the free Bobbi Brown Long Wear Shadow stick in color 'shadow' that I got from Sephora (i love being a Beauty Insider!). I thought this would be good time for me to practice putting false lashes to complete the smokey eye effect that I was 'trying' to achieve.

Practice means perfect, right?! Hopefully, I'd be able to perfect this soon.

Power of Make-Up

My son asked me, "why do you spend so much time putting make-up on? For me, nothing changed on your face." I told him, "son, make-up should not change one's face. Rather, improve the beauty that one already have. I know it doesn't make sense to you. But let me put it this way - make-up makes me happy! And that will always remain a mystery to some people, especially men." Surprisingly, it kept him shut. Such a smart kid to understand that he will never get the answer he wants, so why bother ask again.
