He will have his own

My son is now three, so we finally decided to buy him a big (twin) bed since he is a big boy now. He is currently using his old bed though which is still big enough for him, but since we are planning to have him sleep in his own bedroom, we wanted to get him a new bed.

I saw a lot of nice bed frames that my son will probably like. After getting the frame, we will get a mattress that he will like, meaning soft and bouncy enough for a 3-year-old.

I'm sure he is excited and I'm excited too.

Toddlers in Tiaras Comment

I don't know how to start this, but here goes.

Today, I received a comment on my post Toddlers in Tiaras on my other blog, Starts at Two. The post is about my opinion about babies/kids that joins pageants cos I can relate to them cos I have been into pageants when I was just a kid too. And here is RossiPosse13's comment.

I don't see how you can sit here and tell everyone that beauty pageants are good, when they are honestly not. If a child is exposed to that much sexual behavior that has a good chance in encouraging that behavior for the rest of their lives. Child beauty pageants may also lead to depression or an eating disorder. And another thing, it can cause you a child to miss a lot of school and have such grammar problems as you. That is what beauty pageants did for you.

She/He made a point, actually. I'm not mad or anything about her comment but I actually find a way to further explain myself regarding my post. My post is just all about my own opinion but I can't believe how this commenter can give me such an insult. Anyway, I suggest that you read the post and tell me if there was a point I said that y'all put your child in pageants. Yes, I said it was good, in a way, which is true with what I've experienced cos again, I've joined pageants before and I never experienced the problems that she/he mentioned, except for the grammar problems though cos English is not my first language and I'd admit I have a few grammar lapses. But it's not about the grammar, it's the way she took my freedom of speech.

So, let me say this to ALL THE COMMENTERS out there, let's respect the author/blogger. If you can't say anything nice, just don't post your comment cos seeing a comment like this really hurts for someone being commented on. This is my first time receiving this kind of comment though and I don't know how big these kind of comments in the blogosphere. In my own opinion, bloggers are entitled to their own opinion and they don't violate any law as long as they're not saying anything against anything or anyone.

Serious about working at home

I used to have a stable job eversince I finish college. But since I chose to be with my husband here in TX, USA, I also chose to be a stay-at-home Mom. Well, it is not actually a choice I made, but I just don't have a choice (makes sense?!).

The reason behind is we are still on our process of getting our Greencard since I arrived here with a K1 fiancee visa that is considered as non-immigrant visa but still fell under the immigrant visa category.

I can say that it is somehow a blessing in disguise because staying at home with my son makes me closer to him because I get to spend my whole time with him and we both love it. Right now, he is still 2, and as time would pass by, we, mothers, whether we like it or not, but it will come to a point where our children wouldn't want to spend their whole time with us because they will meet friends and more. So, while they still want do it, it is good to take the opportunity because they won't stay that way for long.

So, right now, I am getting serious about working at home. I get to earn a bit with my blogging, but it's not enough to support our needs. Right now, I am still searching for good online jobs where I can earn a bigger amount of money. One of the best online job I saw is the small business opportunity that is powered by Microsoft where you can franchise from any small businesses available.

If you are serious about working at home, you may want to check that opportunity that I am talking about.

An early nap

It was surprising that my son, Abi, is taking a nap early today. He usually takes nap around 4-5:00 which is not good coz he wakes up at 7-9:00PM and would me or my husband miserable coz he won't go to sleep until past midnight which means that we need to be with up coz we don't have a choice. But today, around 2:00PM, he was starts to get fussy so I told him to go to his bed and sleep. Though he finally was conked out after drinking 2 bottles of milk. At least he finally went to sleep earlier than the usual.

My son was having nightmares

My son woke up 3-4 times last night because he has been having some sort of a nightmare. I am not really sure if it was really a nightmare, but he will wake up crying like it seemed that he's hurt or something. Since he knows how to talk a little bit now, I asked him if he's hurt or not, but he won't say anything, just crying. So I assume that he wasn't hurt.

Most of the time, it was my hubby would wake up to our son's crying. But if it would take a while before he calms down, I would try to help but usually I can calm him down.

Anyway, speaking of nightmare, I found this article from WikiPedia
A nightmare is a dream which causes a strong unpleasant emotional response from the sleeper, typically fear or horror, being in situations of extreme danger, or the sensations of pain, falling, drowning or death. Such dreams can be related to physical causes such as a high fever, turned faced down on a pillow during sleep (most often in the case of drowning nightmares), or psychological ones such as psychological trauma or stress in the sleeper's life, or can have no apparent cause. If a person has experienced a psychologically traumatic situation in life—for example, a person who may have been captured and tortured—the experience may come back to haunt them in their nightmares. Sleepers may waken in a state of distress and be unable to get back to sleep for some time. Eating before bed, which triggers an increase in the body's metabolism and brain activity, is another potential stimulus for nightmares

Just a knowledge in case anyone wants to know.

Tuesday Toot: Made a new blog dedicated to my son

My toot for this Tuesday is about the new blog that I made just for my son.

I have been a member of a couple of community for Mommies, so I got the chance to visit lots of blogs owned by my fellow mommies. I am inspired by how they write about their daily experiences with their kids and I enjoy every article they had, even just a single picture post. So I decided to make a blog that is just for my son. I titled it Starts at Two because I made the blog on the exact day of his 2nd birthday which was last September 24, 2008. You can check the site here.

Thanks for reading and have a great day! Toot toot!

My Baby's Name

Digg!

I am tagged by fellow pinaymommy blogger and PMC member, Praning. Thanks for this Mommy.

~start tag~

My Baby's Name: My son's name is Dion Bernard. We got those names from my parents name. Dion is from my mother's name which is CereDIONa while Bernard is from my father's name BERNARDo.

I named my son after them because I owe them a lot from the day that I was pregnant with him until now. I know I betrayed them as my parents when I got pregnant by a boyfriend who just left me out of the blue. I know I hurt them so much but they still took care of me. Accepted me as their daughter and forgave me without any doubts for what I did. If without them I would've been dead by now because what happened to me was never easy. But they loved me just how they always do when my mom herself carried me in her bossom. They are so precious me just as how they treat my son preciously.

But we gave my son a nickname, Abi. Abi is a bisaya (language in Visayas and most part of Mindanao) word meaning "I/we thought or a term for guess". When I was pregnant of him, I always love to wear pink. Anything pink: my clothes, shoes, even my underwear, hairtie. just anything but pink so I thought that I have a girl baby. But when I had my first ultrasound when I was 7 months pregnant, we found out that it was a boy. We were not disappointed though but we just named him "Abi" because we only thought that he's a girl. hehe.

~end tag~

Now, I wanna pass this to another fellow pinaymommy bloggers, Mommy Mitch and Mommy Gen.

Anticipating His Future As A Mother

Time flies really fast, my son would be two this coming Wednesday and without realizing it, he would start his potty training and graduate from disposable diaper, start to go to school, and everything. But even if he is getting older and even if he would have his own family and all, he would still be my baby and nothing can ever change that. But enough with those anticipating his future for now because I wanted to enjoy and cherish each moment of what my son is right now, as a baby who is still needing so much attention, care, and love, most especially from me as his Mommy.

Oh boy..I hate to imagine it but I know I can't the stop the from ticking and while it is moving, we know that a big future is ahead of us but we don't exactly know what it is, especially for our children. The best that we can do for now is to give him the love and care that he deserves and nurture every moment we have together because as a mother, whether we like it or not, our kids will find their own way in their own right time. It would really hurt but at least if you are a good mother, you would see your kid(s) leave you with tears of joy and no regrets.

Dancing Is My Frustration But My Son Loves It

Digg!

My son loves to dance. Everytime a music plays on one of his favorite cartoon shows or sometime with just any show on TV, he would dance to the beat. He would also try to do a break dance by turning himself upside down.

I hope he would be a dancer in the future because that is one of my frustrations while growing up. I love to dance too but I can't dance well. Until now, I love watching movies where you can see lovely dancing routine such as in Bring It On (part1-5), Step Up (1&2), Honey, etc. I always wish that I can dance like those guys but I know it is too late for me to dream that big, so I am just wishing for my son or my future children to dance as graceful as those dancers in the movie or any TV shows.

Anyway, I captured a video of my son dancing while he was watching one of his favorite cartoon shows on TV. Enjoy!

My Son Would Be Turning Two Soon

Digg!

A few days from now, my son would be 2 years old. Time really flies so fast because I can still recall the day that I gave birth to him. I was already at the hospital since I already knew the day before that that I am about to give birth. I guess I was really lucky because I didn't feel any pain when giving birth. I was so relaxed and excited while my mother was so tense because it was the very first operation that I have ever went to and I have never been admitted to the hospital until I gave birth.

When I think about those moment, the very first time I heard him cry and I saw his cute angelic face whom eyes was flickering trying to realize where he was at at that very moment. It was such a magical moment and I can't explain how happy I am during that day.

Now, it has already been almost 2 years that has passed and he may not be as innocent as what he was 2 years ago but he is an angel to me.

He would be two a few days from now and I wanted to give him something that he truly deserves. We are not planning on having a big party or something like that because at his age, he would still not appreciate it. It would be just like what we did during his first birthday. We just went to the beach with the whole family. And what made it very special is his Daddy was there. I just want to make his day special by letting him eat all he can his favorite foods such as ice cream, jone's supreme, etc. What is really important is that our family is still together and we're all healthy and serving our Lord God.

My Son's Favorite TV Shows

Digg!

My son would be turning two next month so I can say that he is now in the stage of getting into some TV Shows that he likes and of course, I find appropriate. I made a post about his most favorite TV show, The Wonder Pets. I guess that was the very first TV show that he enjoyed so much. Bot now he has lots of favorite TV shows, still in the same channels where The Wonder Pets is shown. He likes SpongeBob Square Pants (everyone knows him, right?), Dora the Explorer, Ni-Hao Kailan, Wow Wow Wubzzy, and The Bayardigans. They are all educational shows that every toddler would love to watch. And I observed that what he likes about this shows is the singing and dancing stuffs.

Crazy about airplane

My son's favorite toy is an airplane. He is so much crazy about it that he doesn't mind if his other toys are gone just as long as he still has an airplane. In fact, whatever he is holding, he would assume that it is an airplane (ie spoon, spatula, shoes, controllers, etc.).

In his grandparents house, he has lots of toys and of course, there's an airplane. There was one day that his cousins (4 and less than 2 years of age) came over to granny's house so they played together. One of them was playing with the airplane and it upsets my son because he can't play with it now. But there was a brochure that he found that has a picture of an airplane and he was contented by just looking at it. That's how crazy he is about airplane stuffs.

Ice Cream as Reward for Abi's Good Deeds

Ice cream is one of the rewards that we usually give to Abi if he has been a good boy, most especially at the table. We would. sometimes give him pudding (chocolate or vanilla flavor), candy bars, yogos bits, jellies, etc. everything he would do something good.

Last night, he has been behaving very well at the dinner table. He had been behave for for a few times consecutively everytime we eat our meal, so he deserves a reward for that. We gave him a Banana Split flavor ice cream and he enjoyed it so much.
Though he always wanted to have more and ended up licking his bowl off. He looks so funny he does that, so I decided to take a picture of him.

Giving a child a reward for his good deeds is, for me, a good thing, so that they'll know that he is appreciated for being a good kid. It is another way to train them on doing good things because bad things can never be rewarded and it would cause them bad as well, such as punishment.

The Wonder Pets

I have made a post about my son loving the The Wonder Pets cartoon show. These past few days, he has been really into it. Now, he knows how to turn on the TV. We always have the channel set to NOG or Nick Jr. so that when he turn on the TV, it would automatically be on that channel. He doesn't want to watch anything else but the The Wonder Pets.

My Son Loves THE WONDER PETS

My son, Abi is 22 months old already and it has been a few months since he's starting to pay interest to TV shows, but just a few weeks ago, I realized that he has his favorite TV show. I can say that it's his favorite because once he's watching that show, he can't be disturbed anymore and I can see that he's enjoying it. By the way, the show that he likes is THE WONDER PETS. It's a cartoon show about a turtle, chick, and a hamster who saves other animals who are in needs. Abi sings with them and imitating what they're saying which means that he's learning.

Here's a picture of him while watching TV.

Me and my son, Abi

After a while, I am finally back participating on PMC's Weekly Fest. Theme for WEEK 10 is Mother and Child. Here is my entry.

This picture was taken last July 20, 2008 which is my wedding. This was after the ceremony and we have a picture taking. They asked me to pose alone but I grabbed my son because he's always a special part of me before everything else and he's the one who brought me to where I am now coz he is my angel and always my lucky charm.

This week's benefactors are Mapiles.com and Bloggista.com. Thanks!!:-)

Abi's recent activities

Feeding the cat

These past few days, Abi loves to feed the cat so each night after we eat our dinner, Andy would take him to feed the cats and he is always excited in doing so. We know that this is good coz we're planning to give him his own pet if he'd be old and responsible enough to have one.

Climbing up the shelves

I know Daddy shouldn't see this one coz it's a big no-no to put yourself in danger like what he's doing in the picture. I let him do it though just once to take a picture of him, but I swear, I put him down after the I took a picture of him doing it, or else Daddy will be mad at me instead.(lol)

Just woke up

I just want to take picture of my son yesterday when he just woke up. Isn't he cute? :-)

He would be 2 years old this coming September and I can really see his development as he gets older. Now he has his own bed and he sleeps better on it now compared to when he slept on his bed alone on the first night we got it. It is just so amazing how child develop and grow into adult, right?

Abi's New Look

The above pictures are my son's. On the left side, he has long hair then which makes him looks like a girl, right?! He is always mistaken as a girl if he has his hair long. His hair is very healthy and it grows very fast, and he doesn't like haircut. Back in the Philippines, we brought him once to a hair salon to have his hair cut, though it was cut shorter but it didn't turn out well coz he hates it and got upset.

But his Daddy brought him to have his hair and Daddy's hair cut and his Daddy did a good job. I don't know how they're able to cut his hair coz I wasn't there but they made it and that is again my son on the picture on the right side.

So, which do you think looks good on him?

Abi's a Big Boy now

It is really hard to put Abi to sleep. Back in the Philippines, he is used to having someone beside him when he sleeps, my parents which would be his grandparents are beside him every night. Now, since we live in the US, they don’t let their children sleep with them in the same bed or even in the same room. Since we know that it would be hard for Abi to put him in a separate room, we just had a crib for him. We used a crib coz since he is not used to sleeping himself, he may roll over and fall off from the bed.

The other night, I decided to remove front side rail of his crib coz I wanted him to learn on climbing up his bed alone. Then, when it was bed time, as usual he asked for milk, which means that he is sleepy. His Dad put his bottled milk on his bed, he got it and drink it on his bed until he fell asleep. Though we were expecting that to happen but we’re still very surprised and HAPPY that finally, he slept on his own and on his own bed. This may sound silly, but me and Andy went out from the room and DANCED for joy. LOL
